Stakes is a coming of age film, set in the sometimes seedy underbelly of the horse racing community. For authenticity, the director chose to shoot all real locations, real events and both real racing horses and horse races. As you would imagine, this had its challenges and in the end made for some very interesting situations and images. Stakes debuted on over 50 screen Australia wide (quite a few screens for Australia) and a few screens internationally.
